School Safety: A Shared Responsibility

SJE Family,

School safety is our main priority here at SJE. We want our children to feel safe and secure, so they are free to learn each day. Below are a few safety reminders that you can help support st SJE.

  •  When entering the building, please always have your driver's license. Our new check-in/out system requires you to scan your license. This covers all school visits from late arrivals to early dismissals.

  • Everyone coming to an event will have to go through security. To speed up everyone getting through security quickly, it would be great to limit what you bring into the building (just phone, drivers licence and keys are a good examples).
  • Please adhere to the posted "No Trespassing" signs on the playgrounds. For the safety and liability of our students, we ask that children use the playgrounds areas during the school day while under the supervision of SJE staff.
  • Follow all directions on No Parking" signs throughout the campus. These areas are marked for specific reasons such as loading and unloading zones and underground drainage systems that should not be compromised.

We want to also remind you that we have comprehensive safety plans in place and that we conduct frequent safety drills for a variety of situations to keep our students safe.  The safety of staff, students and other stakeholders is priority. We encourage open lines of communication for reporting concerns to school staff members or administration when you feel that specific situations need to be addressed. There are a variety of ways that parents and students can report issues - both in person (any staff member) and via technology. You can also use the district’s School Crime Tip Line at 843-915-7767.  Information regarding the School Crime Tip Line can be accessed at /Page/617.
