School Improvement Council
South Carolina initiated School Improvement Councils (SICs) through legislation as a means of assuring the influential voice of parents and community members in the education of their children. The School Improvement Council takes an active role in the development and implementation of the School's Strategic Plan for continuous improvement. They actively assist in writing the Summary Report for Parents and in drafting the letter on the State Report Card.
At St. James Elementary, they assist with Parent Initiatives such as 5 Star Parents, the Volunteer Parent Training Classes and the Open House activities that our school has each year. They are truly Ambassadors of St. James Elementary.
The vision of the SC School Improvement Council is: "To promote and support civic engagement for quality public education in South Carolina.”
